VC1204 Varendah Chair — View 1

VC1204 Varendah Chair

The VC1204 Varendah Chair is a traditional Sri Lankan verandah armchair built from solid teak — designed for the slower hours of the day spent on the porch, in the sitting room, or anywhere you want a comfortable chair with character. The tall backrest is built from a series of horizontal slats set within a sturdy frame, providing excellent back support while allowing air to flow freely through the chair — a practical advantage in our warm climate. The armrests are the chair's signature feature: solid teak rails that flow forward from the backrest and end in beautifully curved scrolled handgrips that are both decorative and genuinely comfortable to grip.

The seat is a slatted solid teak panel, sized generously for relaxed seating. The front legs are turned in a classic baluster profile, while the back legs are kept simple and square — a traditional combination that gives the chair a distinctive verandah character. The entire chair is finished in a warm natural teak tone that deepens beautifully over time.

Built using traditional solid teak joinery for long-term strength, the VC1204 is naturally resistant to warping and insects, and is the kind of chair that families keep and enjoy for many years — equally at home on a verandah, in a living room, in a study, or as a striking accent chair in any traditional Sri Lankan interior.

Care Instructions

Dust the teak frame regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth along the wood grain. For deeper cleaning, wipe with a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately — never leave water sitting on the surface. Apply a quality teak oil or furniture wax every 6–12 months to nourish the wood and maintain its natural lustre. Keep away from prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading, and away from heat sources to prevent the wood from drying out. Avoid dragging the chair across rough floors — lift to move. Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
